Топ 3 Tales of. нет каких-то отдельно выдающихся качеств, но всё вместе складывается в шикарную классическую жрпг, одну из последних в своём роде.

As my 1st interaction with a Tales game it was a treat, has left me excited to play more in the future, unique take on RPG combat with characters you care about and a story you want to see the end of. I have some issues with how the side quests are just there and you have to hope you come across them as there's no indication one is about so they are easily missed. Overall though it was a great experience.

This game excels at mediocrely. Also major frame pacing issues and combat mechanics is straight trash.

The port is trash. Story is interesting enough to care and is good. BUT not amazing. Battle mechanics are horrid though.

This was the party I used for the final battle. Since Rita is the only character with most of the strong artes and Estelle can heal, they were shoe ins. Flynn was put in...because why not.

To be honest, I did not enjoy this game very much. As much as I liked Yuri's "take justice into his own hands" approach with a couple of the villains, I didn't care much for the rest of the cast, especially characters like Rita and Raven, who honestly should've stayed dead after that one section in Arc 2. Speaking of which, what the hell was up with Arc 3, anyway? It feels like the entire plot shifts to a "end of the world" plotline as if the stuff earlier wasn't as interesting, which reminds me of how Xillia 1 made Gaius the final antagonist, but that game was rushed. Duke literally actively goes out of his way to attempt genociding humanity to save the world, which is not what his dead friend would've wanted. Duke as a character in general felt pretty weak since all the info we get about him is given in an info dump. Otherwise he just comes and goes when the plot demands he appears. Gameplay wise, it was alright, but I do feel they give you too much to worry about. TP goes down like clockwork with arts, and you're limited to 15 of most items. In a day and age where almost every RPG lets you carry 99 of stuff, this 15 limit feels very annoying. The ultra reliance on weapon skills was also a bit annoying, as things like more combo hits and backstepping is locked behind this feature. Sadly, you don't have enough skill points to invest in everything, so you need to pick and choose what you want to put on. Some things are a lot more expensive than others, and the only other way around it is to have the weapon with the skill equipped, but more often than not, you'll have better weapons to use that increase your stats, so why equip worse weapons just to not need to waste your points. Secret Missions in this game absolutely suck, and if I didn't do no half stars, Secret Missions alone would be the reason I give it 1 1/2 stars. They start innocently enough, but later, the timing to get the requirement is either incredibly strict or requires certain characters. The final boss's Mystic Arte also lowers your HP to 1 regardless of your current HP, and luckily enough, he doesn't just mow you down right away, giving you a chance to use a group heal, which was a rare item until encounters in the final dungeon start dropping them like candy. In my opinion, this game wasn't as bad in terms of difficulty with how Zestitia is incredibly easy, but it certainly wasn't a fun experience. It is unlikely I'll replay it anytime soon.
