A lot of people love this game, but complain about the platforming. I'm ngl, this game rules. It's fantastic. I have no problems with the platforming other than when I'm running the time trials.

El Pixel art de este juego es una cosa tremenda. De mis metroidvania favoritos, en su día traté de sacarlo No-Hit. Me quedé a un solo golpe y no creo que lo retome. La vida adulta me jodio la run, ni olvido ni perdón. P.D.: Jugad Blasphemous ;)

While originally marked as a suffer game, I played Blasphemous under the assumption that it was a pixel Souls-like game with a high difficulty. After playing for myself on stream, I realized it was actually a fusion of Souls-like mechanics/lore and aesthetic, Mega Man Zero combat, and Metroidvania exploration. Suffice to say, as I love all of these genres, the game was a blast. I enjoyed the many secrets and figuring out what to do and where to go at any given moment. The difficulty did at first seem high, but I eventually grasped the combat well enough that it became pretty simple, and the real challenge was often trying not to die instantly to platforming hazards. The story seemed quite heavy and laced with philosophical and/or interpretive elements that I expended no effort to parse, along with a dark gothic presentation filled with gore that wasn't really for me. While I don't fault the game for these choices, I know they're not to my taste and just won't comment further. That said, some of the pixel art was not only gory or gross, but somewhat hard to "read," and I would often be questioning what I was looking at when staring at a character/enemy model or item. Other less-than-stellar stuff for my tastes include the relatively sparse soundtrack, and some nagging QoL issues or oddities with mechanics, such as flasks not refilling at "bonfires" under certain circumstances, disagreeable warp points, and plenty of weird interactions during combat that would drop inputs in an otherwise tightly controlling game. Overall, I really enjoyed my time, and I want to finish out the rest of that I missed in the game, such as achievements and secrets. I don't hold it against the game, but rather myself, that I missed so many small details while played. Blasphemous seems to encourage multiple playthroughs, so I think this is a fine problem to have, and I'm very much looking forward to its sequel now.
