I have no words to say how much this game sucks. A huge disappointment. The grinding system sucks, it's awfully repetitive and boring, and I couldn't be bothered to even pay attention to the story. There's no world to explore, and it's just fight after fight, with nothing else to do. Never felt that my money was wasted until I bought this game (for a very cheap price, mind you). Definitely not the game for me, and don't recommend it to anyone. Only rediming feature? The soundtrack from the Final Fantasy games and the 3D models for all the characters, that are very well done.

I know this game is mostly hated, but I like this game. In fact, I still have a decent time playing this game to earn unlockables. The gameplay, while hard to get a decent feel for, is pretty solid and smooth. I think most people had a problem with the gameplay because it did not exactly work like the previous games in the Dissidia series and the Dissidia gameplay in general was very different from normal fighting games. First of all, Dissidia NT is a 3 vs 3 arena game (sometimes 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1). Dissidia was a 1 vs 1 arena game and Dissidia Duodecim was also a 1 vs 1 arena game but added an assist character. In the Dissidia series, you have to use bravery attacks to accumulate bravery points. When you successfully hit an opponent with a bravery attack, they lose bravery points, and you gain bravery points. If you deplete an opponent's bravery points past zero, then the opponent enters a "break" state and cannot hurt you until they bravery points rises back up to 1000 (default number) or first successfully attack you with a bravery attack to gain bravery. You receive bonus bravery for breaking an opponent. If you have bravery points, then you can use a HP (hit point) attack to cause damage equal to the number bravery points you have stored. When the HP attack successfully hits the opponent and causes damage, your bravery points deplete down to zero. At this point, your bravery will replenish back to 1000. However, this works a little different than if you are in a "break" state. In this case, you will cause damage if you attack your opponent with an HP attack while your points are replenishing equal to the number of bravery points you had at the time your attack successfully hit the opponent. Afterwards, your bravery points will once again deplete to zero and begin to replenish to 1000. This is also how Dissidia NT works. The big difference for me is that in the previous Dissidia games, characters had access to several bravery and HP attacks in a match. In Dissidia NT, characters have access to several bravery attacks and one HP attack that you select before you start the match. If there was one thing that I could change back to the previous games, it would be to have multiple HP attacks during a match. Traversing around the battle arenas is the same as previous games though sliding interactives are not in this game. Every character can run, dodge, jump, and glide around the arena. New to the game is that every character has a unique ability, and every character can choose two general abilities at the beginning of a match. These abilities are basically work as buffs and debuffs. Depending on the ability it can be a buff you or your team. It can also be a debuff for one or more of your opponents. Some unique abilities even act as bravery attacks. Lastly, Summon Monsters work a little differently in this game. In previous games, your selected summon would activate when certain conditions unique to the summon were met in battle cause a buff to you or a debuff to your opponent. In Dissidia NT, your selected summon gives your team a buff at the beginning of the match. You can call a summon into the arena when the summon gauge is full for your team. You increase this gauge by attacking your opponents and largely by attacking cores that appear in the arena. Once the gauge is full you can call your summon into the match by holding the touchpad on the controller to fill a second gauge. Once this gauge is full, the summon will show up in the arena and attack your opponents with several attacks that stun them and greatly deplete their bravery points without putting them in the "break" state. The summon also grants you increased or extra buffs while they are present in the arena. Some even give the opposing team debuffs. After the summon leaves the arena, they once again give you increased or extra buffs for the rest of the match. The match ends when one team defeats a member of the opposing team three times. you can defeat each member once, one member twice then defeat another member, or defeat one member three times. defeated characters can respawn either manually or after the respawn timer has elapsed. During the respawn timer, the character can move to wherever they want to spawn. The visuals in this game are great. The flashiness of the effects of moves is what you would expect from a modern Final Fantasy game. The cutscenes also look fantastic. The characters look very detailed and receive minor battle damage changes from attacks. The music is also great with original songs for Dissidia NT, original versions of songs from previous Final Fantasy games, and remixed versions of songs from previous Final Fantasy games. Unfortunately, the story for the game is not great and somewhat forgettable. In addition to the story mode, there is also an online mode for ranked and custom matches. There is also a gauntlet mode with several sub modes. most are a series of regular matches though there is one that is notable different. This is the Core gauntlet mode. This is basically a tower defense mode where you must destroy your opponents' core before they destroy yours. If you or another team member is within core's dome, then the core cannot be damaged. Except for this change in the condition to win the match, the game plays out the same way. You can defeat an opponent, but it does not count towards winning the match. The replayability comes in earning gil or treasure nodes to unlock various extras like skins for characters and weapons, songs, character messages, etc. You also earn titles for meeting certain conditions in the various game modes. Despite the fact that I still play this game and enjoy it, I do recognize its shortcomings and can only rate it slightly above average.
