Themes:

The plot of this game is a brand new story revolving around Majin Buu being released in Future Trunks' Alternate Timeline. Like most of the Dragon Ball movies, Another Road is considered a side story to the Dragon Ball series. Gameplay is very similar to "Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai", the game's predecessor. The controls remain the same, but there are some additional functions that can be used during gameplay. The story mode gameplay features something similar to what was in "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3" and "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2".

Essentially an expansion on the original game with more characters and a more robust story mode where you fly around a world map and protect cities from being destroyed by the villains. This was also the first time the Majin Buu saga was tackled in the Future Trunks timeline years before other games and the Super anime ever did. While the main new story mode gimmick is a nice addition, it becomes unfair, long, tedious. and incredibly frustrating towards the end. For a first time playthrough it's a little rough, but the story mode chapters are clearly meant to be replayed to unlock different story routes, which is only achievable by using much stronger characters in some cases.
