Reviews pending... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA - 7/10 Started out really fun, then really fucking annoying, then really fun and satisfying again. This was my first time playing a game in this series and I loved the aesthetic and visuals immediately. What I also noticed immediately was that Ryu controlled like he was walking through mud and the horrid input delay. I had to go into the Nvidia Control Panel and put latency on the ULTRA setting which, while it did help, did not entirely reduce the lag. After a while I got used to the way game and how it wanted me to play, but I still have complaints. Most of it is regarding the movement and platforming. Some of the platforming was incredibly annoying, and Ryu's "wall detection" would flip a coin between doing a wall run or running up the wall. A core game design that I do not like is that once Ryu jumps in a direction everything he does is also locked in that direction. I have played character action games where after you jump you change your trajectory with an attack or by simply moving, but in this game he has to commit to that direction. Absolutely hated this especially in regards to the Flying Swallow move and all of its weapon variations. The story is very barebones. The final villain reveal was incredibly obvious to me from the beginning and very cliche. Rachel was fun enough to play and I had no complaints regarding her chapters. The most annoying part of the game was somewhere I believe in Chapter 8 under the monastery where you have to climb back up while archers are constantly shooting at you. Nothing else in the game frustrated me to the degree that section did. I also found the ending kinda funny because *SPOILERS* Ryu just leaves Rachel stranded in the aftermath of the final battle and seemingly magically turns into a falcon. I came away from the finale thinking this was a good game and I could see why people would come back to it to challenge themselves. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA 2: Skipped. Played Ninja Gaiden 2 Black instead. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NINJA GAIDEN 3: RAZOR'S EDGE: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
