The premise of the game is to complete a series of preset scenarios by successfully building and maintaining amusement parks through business ownership as a theme park entrepreneur. The key to any park is building a large amount and diverse range of rides for the visitors. Players can choose from dozens of roller coaster types and can also build log flumes, carousels, bumper cars, haunted houses, go karts, ferris wheels, and swinging ships, among other rides. The intensity and type of rides must be balanced, as visitors' preferences vary significantly from person to person. For example, some guests prefer exciting rides and have high nausea tolerance levels, while other guests are just the opposite.

I am rating this on the original RTC, before they updated it with the different engine and ruined parts of it. I played this SO MUCH as a child, and it's still amazing to this day. The only sad thing with the new version is you can only have one park and have to go in and wipe some files if you want to reset the park. Otherwise, I would be playing this even more.

So, let me tell you about one of my favorite games, RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 by Chris Sawyer Productions. I fell in love with this game when I was young, and I still enjoy playing it today. It's amazing that only one guy programmed the entire game in assembler. It's perfect for creative people who love to build and design their own amusement parks. The gameplay is easy to learn, but can be challenging at times. The visuals are obviously dated, but they have aged well and still hold their charm. There isn't really a story to the game, but that doesn't matter. The soundtrack is nonexistent, and the sound in general didn't age well, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience. RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 is a classic, replayable, and good retro game that I highly recommend. One flaw of the game is that guests can be very fickle and hard to please, but that just adds to the challenge and makes it more rewarding when you finally get a park to run smoothly. All in all, RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 is a game that will always have a special place in my heart, and I think any fan of simulation or strategy games should give it a try.

I had decent fun with it back in the day, it did not have as much content and polish as 2, but it was a great place to start
