Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a platform video game acting as a prequel to 1990's Super Mario World. The game casts players as Yoshi as he escorts Baby Mario through 48 levels in order to reunite him with his brother Luigi, who had been kidnapped by Baby Bowser's minions. As a Super Mario series platformer, Yoshi runs and jumps to reach the end of the level while solving puzzles and collecting items. In a style new to the series, the game has a hand-drawn aesthetic and is the first to have Yoshi as its main character. The game introduces his signature abilities to flutter jump, produce eggs from swallowed enemies, and transform into vehicles.

Really surprised with this. The game is beautiful to look at from start to finish. Baby Mario's crying is of the devil through. Platforming, boss fights and little puzzles here and there kept the game fresh. Love Yoshi transforming into different things. Strong recommend to play loved it so much more then Super Mario world but that's just me.

Full Walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL957yPFpIoy_RbIvmhl96KkhmEaZA8_7o Summary: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a popular platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995. It is a prequel to the original Super Mario World and features Yoshi as the main protagonist. The game's story begins with a stork delivering Baby Mario and Baby Luigi to their parents in the Mushroom Kingdom. However, the evil Kamek, a Magikoopa, attacks the stork and kidnaps Baby Luigi, while Baby Mario falls onto Yoshi's Island. The Yoshis, a species of dinosaur-like creatures, take it upon themselves to rescue Baby Luigi and reunite the two brothers. The player controls Yoshi as they embark on a quest across various levels, each with its own unique theme and challenges, to rescue Baby Luigi and defeat Kamek. Yoshi has several abilities, such as running, jumping, and flutter jumping, which allow him to navigate through the levels and overcome obstacles. In addition, Yoshi can eat enemies with his long tongue, turning them into eggs that can be used as projectiles or to solve puzzles. One of the game's key mechanics is the use of Baby Mario as a timer. Baby Mario rides on Yoshi's back, and if Yoshi takes damage from an enemy, Baby Mario is separated and floats inside a bubble. The player must then quickly rescue Baby Mario before the timer runs out, or else Baby Mario will be taken by Kamek's minions, resulting in losing a life. Throughout the game, Yoshi encounters different enemies and bosses, including Kamek's minions, as well as iconic Mario series enemies like Goombas, Koopas, and Boo ghosts. Yoshi can also transform into different vehicles, such as helicopters, submarines, and trains, which add variety to the gameplay. As Yoshi progresses through the levels and defeats bosses, he collects coins, flowers, and stars, which contribute to the player's overall score. Players can also find hidden secrets, including bonus levels and extra lives, as they explore the levels. The game features colorful graphics, catchy music, and a charming art style that is reminiscent of crayon drawings. The levels are designed with precision, offering challenging platforming gameplay that requires precise controls and puzzle-solving skills. The game culminates in an epic showdown against Kamek in his castle, where Yoshi must defeat him to rescue Baby Luigi and reunite the two brothers. After defeating Kamek, Yoshi rescues Baby Luigi, and the game ends with a joyful reunion between Baby Mario and Baby Luigi as they are reunited with their parents. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is widely regarded as a classic and is often praised for its creative level design, unique gameplay mechanics, and charming art style. It has since been re-released on various Nintendo platforms and continues to be enjoyed by fans of the Mario franchise around the world.

A truly ageless game that has it all. The art style is unique and fun, and even as it approaches thirty (!) years old, it still looks amazing. I don't think there will ever come a day when people look at this game and say "Wow, this aged TERRIBLY!" Truly, truly a game that is fun to play just for the eye candy. Levels are fun, diverse, and gradually ramp up the difficulty by introducing new concepts and slowly giving the player less and less time to act, rather than creating more and more ridiculous combinations of traps and enemies. The music (and the sound in general) is great SNES fare, with several tunes that will have you humming along as you play...just don't get hit, or the jarring cries of Baby Mario will assault your earholes and make you wonder why the Yoshis are going through so much trouble. I could go on and on, because there's SO MUCH about this game that makes it great, but TLDR: Probably one of the most fun, visually pleasing, wholesome games ever made. If you have ever played a platformer on any system, play this one...it doesn't get any better than this.
