The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC is the second installment in the main Trails series, serving as a direct sequel to the events of the The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. The game follows Estelle sets out to a new adventure, after completing some training by the Bracer Guild to prepare for that adventure. Comrades both old and new join your team in this story-driven RPG with new combat mechanics and other features that improve the gameplay experience from the first entry.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC

It's hard to give this a bad rating, but ultimately the story pacing in this installment is just unbearable. And that's saying something since some would say that it was somewhat bad in the first game, but I found that one tolerable. The issue with the SC is that there are so many placeholder bosses combined with the entire string you along with meaningless ♥♥♥♥, chapter after chapter. Honestly, you are contributing NOTHING to the actual mainline story for like 7 chapters in a row, as much as the main characters may portray themselves to be at times. I even have proof that Estelle herself finally admits in that "It was all a waste of time." Here is the proof: https://media.giphy.com/media/c2NKuLDDVJsjFXcXSm/giphy.gif || Think about it: when a main character tells you (the player) that you've been wasting your entire time doing meaningless ♥♥♥♥ for the majority of the story, you have to ask yourself, "Is this really a good story or good story telling regarding the plot?" That is why I eventually gave this a thumbs down. However, it was tough to do since this game still retains its great storytelling in the sense of its written dialog for its world and characters as they converse with one another. Also, the music is great, the combat is still solid, Estelle's humor is still intact, and emotional scenes will still come even through the lackluster plot of this game. So in closing, this one was definitely a big letdown, and I honestly feel the FC is far better than the SC. And I pray to God that when I finally get around to playing the 3rd, the plot and pacing will be treated with far more respect as they were in the FC.. 🙏

Nicely builds off of the first game's ending and is overall a fantastic improvement in terms of character growth and story development.
