The Silent Age se presenta como un punto y clic de aventuras que invita a sumergirse en un mundo retrofuturista de viajes en el tiempo y misterios ambientales. Con una premisa intrigante y un ambiente enigmático, el juego intenta enseñarte “clases” sobre la importancia de las decisiones y sus consecuencias en una sociedad al borde del colapso. Sin embargo, a lo largo de la experiencia se perciben fallos que impiden que la propuesta brille como podría esperarse. Historia y Narrativa El juego se centra en una narrativa de suspenso donde viajas entre épocas, tratando de evitar una catástrofe inminente. La premisa resulta interesante desde el inicio, pues te hace sentir como si asistieras a una clase magistral sobre los riesgos de la tecnología y el destino. Sin embargo, la historia se queda a menudo en un tono demasiado superficial, sin profundizar en los personajes ni en las consecuencias reales de tus acciones. La falta de giros narrativos contundentes y un desarrollo de trama un tanto predecible hace que el relato no logre enganchar al jugador tanto como debería. Gameplay y Mecánicas El estilo de juego es clásico en el sentido de que se basa en la resolución de puzzles y en la exploración de entornos estáticos. Esta mecánica, que en teoría debería ser una lección sobre la lógica y el pensamiento lateral, se torna repetitiva y poco inspiradora. Los puzzles, aunque bien planteados en algunas ocasiones, carecen de la chispa de creatividad que se espera en un título de aventuras. La interacción con el entorno es limitada y se siente más como un ejercicio de “clase” donde las soluciones ya están predefinidas, lo que resta tensión y sorpresa en cada desafío. Visuales y Diseño Artístico Visualmente, The Silent Age apuesta por un estilo minimalista que intenta recrear la atmósfera de un futuro distante y decadente. Los gráficos, en tonos apagados y con un toque retro, ofrecen una experiencia que puede recordar a viejos manuales escolares sobre ciencia ficción. Aunque este enfoque puede ser atractivo para algunos, en otros resulta monótono y carente de dinamismo. La dirección artística se beneficia de una paleta cromática coherente, pero la ejecución final se siente demasiado austera, como si el juego enseñara más por medio de diapositivas que de una experiencia inmersiva. Sonido y Banda Sonora El apartado sonoro es uno de los pocos aciertos del juego. La música ambiental, compuesta por melodías suaves y en ocasiones inquietantes, complementa de manera adecuada el tono general de la aventura. Sin embargo, la calidad del doblaje y algunos efectos sonoros se quedan cortos, contribuyendo a una sensación de desconexión en momentos clave de la narrativa. La banda sonora logra, en cierta medida, elevar la atmósfera, pero no es suficiente para compensar las limitaciones en otros aspectos. Conclusión The Silent Age es un juego que intenta educarte y entretenerte al mismo tiempo, como si cada nivel fuese una lección sobre el paso del tiempo y las consecuencias de nuestros actos. A pesar de tener una premisa prometedora y un ambiente que podría haber sido muy cautivador, la ejecución en términos de narrativa, jugabilidad y presentación gráfica resulta insatisfactoria para una experiencia verdaderamente inmersiva. Es, en esencia, un experimento que se siente a medio camino entre una lección y un entretenimiento, lo que le vale una puntuación de 6/10.

time travel, puzzles and spooky atmosphere? sign me up! I was pretty excited to start this game due to the artwork looking really nice and my interest in time travelling. Sadly, the story and puzzles were very lackluster. It repeatedly mentions that it's about time travel, all the time. You forget? Nah nah, it is about time travel, you know. It's weird, but also gets quite boring fast. I did like the jumping from the present to the future mechanic a lot and using that for the puzzles was fun, even though the puzzles themselves were very easy to figure out. The artwork is really nice and I was surprised how amazingly this pc-port of a mobile game worked out so well. The clicking did get a little annoying at times, I wished I could have used the arrow keys to move around. The soundtrack of the game was also quite interesting, as it was pretty silent most of the times, I guess hence the name, but there were some really cool atmospheric sounds used that gave the game an eerie feeling, which worked really well with the story. I do think this game is worth playing through, but maybe get it at a sale? Very interesting game.

A time warp type of game. I loved the point and click style where you have to pick up items, find where they work to get another item, and then succeed in getting out. It's interesting how the story progresses throughout multiple timelines and you have to figure out how the two of them interact with each other.
