Great game but extremely hard for me. Even harder than Castlevania I managed to get to the boss Bloody Malth at level 5 and I couldn't get past it, maybe one day I'll try again.

There is some artificial difficulty in the form of enemies that spawn infinitely until you move past a certain point in the level. This game is fun, but with absurd difficulty. The music is fantastic.

This is one of my favorite games on the NES as well as of all-time. The story follows Ryu Hayabusa, a young ninja seeking revenge against the group responsible for the death of his father. As the story continues, he has to prevent this group from retrieving two statues that can give their leader great power. This is just an overall explanation. The game's cutscenes really flushes out the story very well. The gameplay is also great for an NES game. The gameplay overall functions like the early Castlevania games. The attack button by itself sends out a sword slash while holding up on the directional pad and pressing the attack button lets Ryu use ninja magic he gains from destroying static objects in a level. Every time Ryu uses magic, he loses magic points which can be replenished with magic potions that are also revealed after destroying static objects in a level. Ryu can also somersault (his version of a jump) to reach higher or far away areas. Ryu can also cling to walls just by somersaulting towards them. In some cases, you will have to jump from wall to wall or jump off a wall and move back towards the wall in order to move up the wall. When Ryu is hit by the enemy or an enemy's projectiles, he is knocked back a foot or two and flashes for a second. This also happens in early Castlevania games. The visuals are also good for a NES game. The soundtrack is great, and it contains some of my favorite video game music tracks. I never beat this game on the NES, but I did finish it on the Nintendo Switch (thanks to save states). It is a challenging game, but it can be finished way less than my playtime if you are an expert in it.
