"Spirit of the North is a single player, 3rd-person adventure game inspired by the breathtaking and mysterious landscapes of Iceland. The story takes root from various pieces of Nordic folklore. The game is unique in that it purposefully has no dialog or narrative. Players must breathe in their surroundings to solve various puzzles and speculate the meaning of a lost ancient civilization. Play as an ordinary red fox who’s story becomes entwined with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a female spirit fox. As you journey over the mountains and under red stained skies you’ll discover more about your companion and a land left in ruin."

{Written on March 28, 2025} OKAY! Everything about this game, I enjoyed! My only complaint is that there is no auto-swim mode where you can just watch the fox swim, and when they bump into a wall it auto-navigates away like a roomba 😆 But I digress.. This game is one I'd been waiting a few years to play and finally made/found the time to stream it now. I'm so happy we were able to play it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole way through! Getting to play as a fox was great, but the way that it handles felt so smooth that I'm not really sure how else to describe the feeling. It was beyond nice, and I loved it. I also appreciated the fact that there was a dedicated tail wag button as well as one for barking. This is a 10/10 perfect game; I loved it. I want to play it again immediately! It was quite fun to learn that returning the staffs to their respective owners unlocks different fur patterns that you can choose from at any time during the game. After completing the game (and having missed two staffs), I went back to find the people and staffs to return them and managed to unlock the last fur pattern, which turned out to be my favorite. It reminded me of Okami (a game which I've still yet to play). It was beautiful, and I don't even have the enhanced version. Now I want to play the enhanced version and see how they could make it even more beautiful (and also f there are any gameplay changes). If you get the chance to play this game and you enjoy puzzles and beautiful music, I highly recommend this one. This is one of my favorite games we've played recently!

This was a STUNNING game with amazing enviromental story telling. The puzzels were never too difficult and I am greatly looking forward to the sequel.

Beautiful game, stunning scenery, very touching. Basic story but the music and visuals are stunning storytelling. Also pretty fun and easy to go back to get the objectives to 100%

I thought this game was super beautiful and the actual mechanics of the game were cool. Some of the puzzles or searching aspects of this game weren't my favourite but it was a good game.

Overall Score : 7/10 (barely) Steam Deck It was a decent experience up until chapter 6, a chill game ,with poor exploration ,but nice scenery ,which kinda made it okay. It had simple puzzles and nice music ,but that's all. Story was whatever. Chapter 6 was a huge slogfest though, terribly designed big area which looked the same everywhere. I'm not sure if I recommend this one, it's a chill experience I guess ,but there are much better ones of similar kind

I got through most of it and it started boring me toward the end. I may end up going back and finishing it, but I won't hold my breath.
