Good voice action and visuals but not super engaging game play loop. I play to play the DLC soon.

JRPG-world that is fully made out of cards🃏 Shorter but delightful story with fun characters, great humour and simple but addicting turn-based gameplay. Also the soundtrack is sooo beautiful🎶🥰

I'd describe Voice of Cards, as gaming adjacent, more an interactive story with enviably rich artwork, beautiful music and a wonderful aesthetic of everything in game being made up of cards. That being said, the game side of things can occasionally leave a lot to be desired. Fun and engaging turn based combat on a handful of occasions shifts toward utter insanity, the difficulty spiking as suddenly enemies have huge pools of hit points and can do enough damage to kill members of your party in a single, frustraiting, blow. The finale, is akin to a battle of attrition, as you face 5 boss encounters back to back, in an environment where saving is disabled. Truth be told it was a relief to finally beat the game after a number of failed attempts that required a full half hour of replay just to get back to where you fell. In the fullness of time, I may decide to pick up the 2nd and 3rd games in the series, but i'll be accutely aware of the arduous task such undertaking would represent.

played demo, seems ok-ish for a card game, just a lil lil boring at times

Review | A Card based RPG from the studio that brought us Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. As a fan of the Final Fantasy and RPG genre, but I'm not a fan of board games, but this game had interested me in the way the cards are used throughout the game. I downloaded the demo and hear are my early review. The cards become the board for the world that your explore and travel through and the characters, equipment and items are all played out using cards as one would expect in any card card with die and counters. With all that the game plays out like a standard RPG games; random monster encounters, grinding to level up stats, and a ongoing story quests and side quests to explore. The RPG element is what drew me to this game after seeing the trailer on the latest Nintendo Direct. As short lived the demo version is, I did spend time my time grinding and levelling up, buying equipment upgrades and making sure I had enough potions to last forever. Once I did get to the end, I was gutted that, that's all their was. I wanted more, the tease of the true quest wanted me to play on, but I could not. I guess I'll have to wait and download the full version is released on the 28/10/2021.
