A lifelong lover of games. My first gaming memories are of playing Frogger on a tiny DOS computer with a floppy disc. I grew up on Nintendo and JRPGs, and stream Indies, AAA, and nostalgic, fun things on Twitch.

I figured it was about time I played Bastion. I loved Hades, and have seen Transistor before... and SuperGiant Games started here. I'd heard amazing things. Bastion is good. It's not great, by today's standards, but it is very good. The animation is lovely (the way the world shapes into being as you walk is very cool), the weapons are interesting, the story is layered and deep. I'm happy I played it. But I do have some gripes, particularly with the way the story is delivered. The narration (extremely wonderful voice acting!) occurs primarily while we're out venturing and fighting enemies. In other words, dealing with immediate and distracting obstacles. It absorbs a good deal of focus to deal with your attackers, so your attention is split while the complexity of the story is being shared... and it's not a straightforward narrative, either. Things are hidden between the lines, and your narrator is not an unbiased storyteller. So, it's very hard to keep up with what's going on, and figure it out. Additionally, the controls are far more clunky than I expected them to be. I think this is a very of-the-times sort of situation. I'm not mad about it, I just think it's of note. At any rate, Bastion feels like a blueprint for Hades... which it absolutely is. They took a lot of elements from this game and extrapolated them into the masterpiece of Hades, and so I'm grateful to Bastion for being that stepping stone.

In early access, but already incredible. Dave is a sweet cinnamon roll that must be protected from all the other characters of the great blue hole (with some exceptions). They're all FANTASTIC characters, don't get me wrong--very strong personalities and questionable, worrying passions. The animation and the cut scenes are SPECTACULAR and journeying deeper and deeper into the ocean to find more fish is such a delight. There's also some underlying story and questing that is very low-pressure, which makes DtD an extremely chill, delightful game.
