I'm going to give this expansion of FFXIV a solid 4 star. It did not capture me the way Heavensward or Endwalker did at all and the first half of it really feels like a never ending anime filler. But if you manage to get to the 97+ quests, the story really begins to pick up. I also enjoying 90% of the soundtrack and the sceneries were absolutely gorgeous!

I'm currently on MSQ 94 - it's not capturing me the same way Endwalker did but this is an entire new story. So far it's okay and I'm looking forward to its development.

I really enjoyed Dawntrail! Compared to ARR I thought it was a really good start to the new story arc. Can't wait to see how the story continues.

[Slight spoilers! Zone names/themes mentioned.] Went into Dawntrail with no expectations whatsoever, as the theme seemed so chilled out compared to the last two previous expacs especially! I had no idea what to expect... and sometimes I think it's a good idea to go in with lower expectations, as you're more often than not pleasantly surprised! ... And in this case, I most certainly was! I felt the beginning started off a little slow but quickly came to realise it was all setup for what was to come next - by the end of the expansion I was completely blown away! The themes were so on-brand for FFXIV, giving the right feelings in the right places with appropriate times to breathe inbetween each emotionally hard-hitting moment. Multiple times I shed a tear (or several) and came away with some of my new favourite characters, soundtrack pieces and zones. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to chill with a coffee and some lofi beats in Solution 9~ ☕💜

Dawntrail began the new era of Final Fantasy 14 on the right foot. with how the new areas were introduced, the characters along the way, gameplay touch ups & so much to pace this to be a well crafted expansion! how I loved how the music was themed and how it felt all with the new graphics & texturing they did. Overall a pretty amazing expansion and up there with my love for Endwalker! I genuinely fell in love so much with any character they built up (minus that b**** Zoraal Ja) but even then he was well written for being hatable! They just set up what they wanted for the characters so well and previous ones we had built like Krile, Wuk Lamat & Erenville. They all just nailed what they wanted to go for in every chaaracter in my opinion. Wuk Lamat is a lovable goofy autistic who cares for people and are loyal to them but not to breaking her back or harming others who dont intend on harming others. Koana is a smart brother who cares for his people even if he focuses alot on the improvement of tech, he still realizes and comes to his sisters aid. Erenville had so much built character form when he started in EW, I love them depicting a silent yet determined one. They were jsut handled so well and their reactions to his home and the party were really entertaining. Bakool Ja Ja was a surprise, going from a fucked up Gary Oak to a really lovable guy who will protect people to save future childern. Honestly everything written with the Mamool Ja was great espically with previous info in earlier content. Zoraal Ja was great in the fact he never exactly learned from his people or examples around him. He thought love for his country was conqeering them all, yet it showed the cracks and flaws within him espically as he aged. He was jsut so unaccepting of others yet wanted to protect what he couldn't accept. His son was given such an unforcante role with being brought in this world just as a tool for Zoraal Ja's ownership of the military. But his son was so kind hearted and just wanted to peacefully be with everyone he couldn't listen to his dad. It was a wonderful contrast. Galool Ja Ja was a caring father and ruler, everyones parents, everyone was just written so well in a way that when we got to know them it didnt feel like an overwhelming wave of people and I apprecaite that! Reminds me of what I loved so much in Stormblood. The Story felt paced extremely well. Loving how they split a section that was jsut seeing peoples lives and apprecaition of all of Tural! It was nice before the storms of war or problems with Bakool Ja Ja & Zoraal Ja. combined with just good solid moments with each person. It jsut built the story well from the forests & mountains to the Jungle & Wild west to Heiritige found & Unlost. Just so many good story moments between characters! It really impressed me with the new writters and what they did. Visually for once I noticed and looked out for stuff. To be honest I've never been extremely keen or noticing on this stuff, hgowever I have to say it looked nice! I enjoyed how it respected the older style and found out how to just retexture and add things to make it familair but add extra detail. I do have to say with the new settings it made it harder to use my normal streaming stuff, however I didn't find it that annoying. Like the moving grass, multilayered water, new shading, it all added some nice shape to the game to look at. All just really lovely in general. Gameplay this time around was really interesting! I enjoyed what changes I got to experience between Scholar, Dancer, Monk & Warrior plus the new addition to Pictomacer along with the healers I gave a good try. Alot of the upgrades and changes made hat I played feel good. I love Scholars super mode & getting to use expenditent more. Thats probably one of my favorite game buttons. Dancer had more dancers and upgrades which I think it needed, along with the changed functionally to the combo and your second big dance. just gave dancer a better flow then I expected. increase dancers damage, with more frequent balde dances. Monk to me felt better but proabbly was more confusing to most, I miss the amount of stones on launch but it didnt feel too bad. I love the new magic spells harkening to ff9 & other ff games with monks who make use of magic. Warrior was more of same, funny heal, funny counter, funny big combos now. AST feels way more refreshingh now and tactical , which I adore. They combined the new with the old. making AST just that much mroe funner to me. Need to level that and Sage. Sage also got funny dot AOE which is fine and fun! Sage never needed more stuff to be honest. Maybe better for syncing down like Picto, but other then that really solid. Also Picto mechnically and visually made me so excited to play DPS. I'm not sure how they did that with my love to healer. I lovethe support buttons and how it feels in the overworld. just so lovely! Other then that I think overworld was great. because Shared Fates got changed for the better honestly. travel between areas felt great. Turayollol was a great center that makes you never have to spend gil to get from place to place. It suited how i played a ton. Getting to aether points was rad! To be honest minus the last two I had friends help but most points were good and had fun traveling with them! Also each area just felt alive that was new and enjoyed the consintraited themes they went for! just... so much beauty. Music was really heavy but gave a different palette to the game from the usual so it was refreshing as well!! loved the ending themes, the fitting into other ff's etc. Glamour selection is something i have ot look through but hap[py with the stuff I've just happened to find! like those. As an ender I believe the themes they carried with Caring for people in different ways and trying to understand people as a theme was really amazing. They displayed that with Wuk Lamat, Koana, Zoraal Ja & Spene. All of them viewed how to protect people and the many neighboring areas. It was just so beautiful in all that it had! Just this game is super amazing and I'm excited for post story and anything for the future! This is just the dawn of a new story and journey! Hope to see more stuff about reflections and things left unanwsered. To explain later or theorize ourselves. c: BELLOW IS FF9 SPOILERS COMING SOON! Need to edit this some other time! But this is all for general stuff about the expansion c:

This expansion has been the most uneven one I have ever experienced. Imagine this scenario: You have just met a character who, despite being a relative stranger, invites you to accompany them on a journey to a new continent. Their goal? To assist them in their quest to claim the throne of their homeland. It felt strange to embark on such a journey with someone I didn't know or like initially. Some may argue that the reason for not enjoying a particular experience is due to not being the central focus. Personally, I am content with observing events from a distance. It would have been enjoyable to simply explore different lands and occasionally rendezvous with with this character during quests, exchanging pleasantries and acknowledging her achievements. However, having to act as her babysitter, while she's getting spit on by llamas, ugh. Even when the story gets intense and the plots twists, there are scenes involving the character in question where I find myself questioning the urgency of the situation. Shouldn't we be focusing on preventing a potential disaster instead of talking to random strangers? This story contains moments that are both exceptional and lackluster, with some reaching a perfect 10 out of 10 while others fall short at a 4 out of 10. The inconsistency in quality made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the experience. It was evident when the developers were leading up to significant story points, creating a sense of anticipation akin to reading a captivating book that you can't put down. However, there were instances where the narrative seemed to meander aimlessly, prolonging the gameplay unnecessarily. Despite the game's standout moments, I found myself questioning the purpose of my actions throughout the majority of the game.

This game so far is a masterpiece! I love the visuals, story is excellent, soundtrack is superb and the gameplay is just right; not too hard but not too easy either. Rightful amount of challenge. So far Dawntrail 7.0 is a masterpiece. The only nitpicking thing I found was the steep price of the new bike mount; a staggering 7.5 million gil. Someone like me that's just a wish to have since I never had more than 3 mil and that was for the small house plot!
